I would rather say that it is one of the more difficult situations you can end up in at work. Especially if it's a relatively new situation for you and you are not very used to meeting new people. We all know that the first impression is incredibly important. But how do you get there in connection with nervousness and pressure? For the family to become your babysitting family, they need to be able to feel both trust and confidence in you who will look after their children. So you have to show that you can give!I think a very important thing is to be as calm as you can. Of course, it's okay to be nervous, I think we all are or were, the first time we met a new babysitter family. But it is important that the nervousness does not take over the whole situation. But how do you see to it then, to be calm and stable in what you do and say?

Feel free to think about what to say before you meet them. Think about what is important to bring out when you present yourself, so that you are sure of it. 1. Before you knock, take a deep breath! It is very important not to forget breathing in difficult situations.
2. Do not do the "kill the fish" handshake when visiting the family for the first time. The dead fish is when you do not put any force in your handshake at all, it feels very uninvolved and shy. A steady handshake is an important basis for a good first impression in front of a new family!
3. Work away the negative thoughts such as "No, this did not go well", "This family will not want to help me" and so on. Do not think like that! The family has chosen to talk to you for a reason and as long as you are happy and positive, everything will surely go gallantly!
4. Focus a lot on the child / children if the opportunity arises. Ask how they are, or what they like to do. It shows both commitment but also so hopefully the child / children will have more confidence in you.
5. Feel free to mention what you have for previous experiences of children, maybe you have some siblings or cared for a child in the family before? If not, be honest with yourself and say you have no previous experience but are eager to create your first!
